Interparliamentary Activities - Parliament of Canada. Senators and Members of Parliament represent the Parliament of Canada at home and abroad by participating in activities organized by Parliamentary Associations.

The meeting will take place in Montréal (Quebec) on July 6, 2024, as part of the 49th Annual Session of the APF, hosted by the Parliament of Canada. The executive committee was informed of the status of reports currently being worked on and confirmed the agenda for the July 2024 meeting.

Associations promote the country’s interests abroad on a continuing basis and are composed of both members of the Senate and of the House of Commons. There are 8 Multilateral Associations and 5 Bilateral Associations.

Damian Boeselager, a MEP from Germany, explained how the mission of the European Parliament’s Committee on Constitutional Affairs (AFCO) to the United States and Ottawa, at the beginning of November 2023, was very successful.

Mr. Boeselager argued that the European Parliament elections that will take place in June 2024 could be a chance for a new impetus, to try to solve certain issues such as visa liberalization.

While officially recognized by the Parliament of Canada, interparliamentary Groups receive no funding—their sole source of revenue is the membership fees they receive from parliamentarians.
