Conference of Presidencies of the Americas Region – October 5, 2020 MPs Francis Drouin and Chris d’Entremont both participated in the Conference of Presidencies of the Americas Region of the Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie (APF) on October 5, 2020.

The purpose of the bilateral visits to Trinidad & Tobago and Barbados is to strengthen bonds with Commonwealth partners, in line with the Canadian Branch’s mandate to facilitate twinning between Canadian provincial-territorial legislatures and Caribbean legislatures. The delegation will discuss people-to-people ties, trade and investment, good governance and democracy, and climate change.

The Hon. Kim Pate, Senator, Ms. Iqra Khalid, MP, Ms. Yasmin Ratansi, MP, and Ms. Lindsay Mathyssen, MP, also attended the meeting, which was moderated by Ms. Sandra Pepera of the National Democratic Institute.

FIPA held its 24th Executive Committee meeting in the city of Curitiba, Brazil, on February 19-20, 2011. The meeting was hosted by the State of Paraná, represented by Luiz Carlos Hauly, former Member of the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies, who also chaired the meeting as FIPA President.
