Mr. Spengemann participated in the panel on the role of men in advancing gender equality. He emphasized recent developments in Canada, including the enactment of the Gender Equality Week Act in 2018, legislation which he had introduced in the House of Commons during the 42nd Parliament.

Members of the Canadian Group of the Inter-Parliamentary Union UIPU) participated, two of whom, Rachel Blaney, MP and Sven Spengemann, MP were featured presenters together with Dr. Pechdau Tohmeena from Thailand’s House of Representatives and David Clarke from the World Health Organization. Senator Mohamed-Iqbal Ravalia also attended.

In addition, President Bayley and officers of the DSC met several Members of the US House of Representatives and Senate to discuss the role of the NATO PA and share perspectives on the transatlantic relationship.
