The purpose of the meeting was to remind them of the existence and importance of the Network, and to explain its three priorities as determined in Libreville: children’s rights, the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), and human trafficking.

The IPU supports the efforts of the United Nations, whose objectives it shares, and works in close cooperation with it. It also cooperates with regional inter-parliamentary organizations, as well as with international intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations which are motivated by the same ideals.
