From January 12 to 21, 2005, the Speaker of the Senate led a parliamentary delegation composed of Senator Colin Kenny and Senator Terry Stratton to the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and the United Kingdom. The delegation first traveled to the United Arab Emirates from January 13 to16, followed by Bahrain January 16 to 19, and the United Kingdom, January 19 to 20, 2005.

The purpose of the visit was to strengthen ties between Canada and Saudi Arabia and encourage parliamentary dialogue by promoting parliamentary exchanges. The theme for the Annual Session was “Strengthening Regional Security by Fostering Democratic and Inclusive Societies: The Role of the OSCE PA”. The Annual Session, hosted by the Parliament of Canada, was attended by over 300 Parliamentarians. Speaker Gagné and Mr. d’Entremont served as co-hosts.

The purpose of the visit was to promote parliamentary dialogue and future parliamentary exchanges. The delegation was particularly interested in matters of trade, the economy and agriculture. It provided the opportunity to discuss foreign policy on issues of international and mutual interest, as well as subjects of common interest arising from our membership in multilateral organizations.

On November 13 and 14, 2014, the Speaker of the Senate, the Honourable Noël A. Kinsella, made an official visit to the United Nations in New York, United States of America. The purpose of the visit was to reinforce parliamentary cooperation and strengthen bilateral ties between both countries. The delegates met with a wide variety of individuals and groups, including legislators, NGOs, businesspeople, and advocates.
