During their visit to London, the delegation was briefed by Canada’s Director at the EBRD on Canada’s involvement and position in current debates about the future of the Bank. The delegation participated in a regular committee meeting and attended a presentation by officials of the EBRD.

Parliament was in recess during the Canadian delegation visit. Meetings were held with the clerks of the two houses, namely Justin Bundi, Clerk of the National Assembly, and Jeremiah Nyegenye, Clerk of the future Senate, who are in charge of implementing the administrative structures for the reform under the new Constitution.

We 83 parliamentarians from 37 Parliaments and Legislatures[1] of Commonwealth and non-Commonwealth countries, met at the Houses of Parliament in London and at the Northern Ireland Assembly in Belfast 31 January to 6 February 2010 to participate in the International Parliamentary Conference on Peace-building: Tackling State Fragility.

The Chair concluded that the Steering Committee would recommend that the 12+ Group should support the new wording and ask the Executive Committee to work to find a mechanism by which Palestinian participation could be facilitated, recognising that the PLC was the legitimate parliament. This was agreed.

The conference was informed by a discussion paper entitled From Correct to Inspired Relations: A Blueprint for Productive Canada-US Engagement and a series of papers prepared by participants for the conference. Following the conference, on 19 January 2009, From Correct to Inspired: A Blueprint for Canada-US Engagement was released, and included three summary recommendations:

The Canada-Europe Parliamentary Association (CAEU) hosted the 41st Interparliamentary Meeting (IPM) with the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with Canada (D-CA) in Ottawa on 17 December 2022.
