National Conference of State Legislatures-Annual Meeting Boston, Massachusetts, United States of America Canada-United States Inter-Parliamentary Group (CEUS) CEUS July 27 - 30, 2025

The National Conference of State Legislatures is a bipartisan organization serving the legislators and legislative staff of the 50 U.S. states, as well as its commonwealths and territories. With its standing committees comprised of legislators and legislative staff, the NCSL provides research, technical assistance and a venue for the exchange of ideas on state issues. A virtual meeting was held given that the regional conference has been postponed. The Canadian Branch of the CWP is administered by a steering committee that represents the views and concerns of women parliamentarians throughout Canada and develops programs to support the objectives of the CWP in the region.

The Conference of Branch Chairs (CBC) of the America Region of the Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie (APF) ensures the implementation of decisions made by the Regional Assembly of the America Region. These decisions all seek to encourage the promotion of the French language and francophone culture among the member branches.

Just after the BTA conference, a number of Canadian Senators and I travelled to Washington for a meeting with U.S. Senators. The meeting was hosted by our U.S. Senate Co-Chair, Minnesota’s senior Senator – Amy Klobuchar – and she was ably assisted by Idaho’s senior Senator – Mike Crapo, who is a former U.S. Senate Co-Chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Group.
