The event served as an opportunity to officially launch ODIHR’s guide for parliaments on Realizing Gender Equality in Parliament. The Honourable Dr. Hedy Fry, P.C., M.P., head of the Canadian delegation to the OSCE PA and the OSCE PA Special Representative on Gender Issues, participated as a speaker.

Also participating in the International Election Observation Mission were Members of Parliament David Christopherson from Hamilton Centre, Peter Goldring from Edmonton East, Monique Guay from Rivière-du-Nord and Martha Hall Findlay from Willowdale.

Report of the Canadian Parliamentary Delegation respecting its participation to the Co-Chairs’ Annual Visit to Japan

The Canadian delegation was led by Member of Parliament Marie-France Lalonde, Chair of the Canadian branch of the Association, and consisted of Senator René Cormier, Association’s Vice-Chair, as well as Members of Parliament Lena Metlege Diab, Fayçal El-Khoury, Laila Goodridge, Denis Trudel and Dominique Vien.

On December 3, 2020, the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the European Parliament co-hosted a discussion on international trade policies that could help to mitigate the global economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Members considered a note prepared by the secretariat detailing responses received to the questionnaire on The Consolidation of IPU Reform.
