On July 1, 2022, the Hon. Marilou McPhedran, Senator, attended a meeting of the Steering Committee of the Twelve Plus Group in her capacity as a Bureau member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union’s (IPU) Sustainable Development Committee.

The Honourable Yuen Pau Woo, Senator, was invited to share his knowledge and experiences as Facilitator of the Independent Senators Group in the Senate of Canada. His presentation drew parallels between the Parliament of Canada and the Trinidad and Tobago Parliament.

This meeting marked Ms. Aaja Chemnitz Larsen’s (MP, Greenland, Parliament of Denmark) first meeting as Chair and Ms. Lisa Murkowski’s (Senator, Alaska, United States) first meeting as Vice Chair.

The Honourable Pierre-Hugues Boisvenu, Senator, and Brenda Shanahan, MP, attended this webinar, intended to train parliamentarians who recently joined the association and its Executive Committee. It also served as a refresher for those who have been in office for some time already. The session was divided into two components.

From June 29-July 1, 2011, Mr. Gord Brown, M.P., Co-Chair of the Canada-United States Inter-Parliamentary Group (IPG) represented the Canadian Section of the IPG at the 2011 annual meeting of the Western Governors’ Association (WGA) in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Eight U.S. Governors and the Premier of British Columbia attended the meeting, as did Canada’s Ambassador to the United States.
