SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Superannuation Act to require the Governor in Council to establish a Royal Canadian Mounted Police Veterans Independence Program based on the veterans independence program referred to in the Veterans Health Care Regulations.

An Act to amend the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Superannuation Act (veterans independence program)
R.S., c. R-11
Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
1. Section 26 of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Superannuation Act is amended by adding the following after paragraph (r):
(r.1) providing for the care of former members of the Force who suffer from a disability in respect of which they are entitled to an annuity or annual allowance under this Act;
Veterans Independence Program
2. (1) Within 240 days after the coming into force of this Act, the Governor in Council shall, by regulation, establish a Royal Canadian Mounted Police Veterans Independence Program for former members of the Force who suffer from a disability in respect of which they are entitled to an annuity or annual allowance under the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Superannuation Act, based on the veterans independence program referred to in sections 15 to 20 of the Veterans Health Care Regulations.
Regulations
(2) The first regulations made under subsection (1) may not come into force until 120 days after the day on which they are made.
