SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Telecommunications Act to require the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission to make regulations by December 31, 2012 to provide for a universal charger for newly-manufactured cellular phones.

An Act to amend the Telecommunications Act (universal charger)

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
1. The Telecommunications Act is amended by adding the following after section 67:
Regulations
67.1 On or before December 31, 2012, the Commission shall, after consultation with consumers, telecommunications service providers, cellular phone manufacturers and other interested parties, make regulations to provide for a universal charger for newly-manufactured cellular phones.
