Association members have also visited the Pan-African Parliament in South Africa three times. On three occasions, the Co-Chairs were invited to speak at the opening of a session. The Association provides a mechanism for Canadian parliamentarians to learn about the opportunities and challenges in Africa and to share their experiences and expertise.

Discussions focussed on visa requirements, parliamentary relations between the two countries and how Parliament functions in Canada. Ms. Szili and her delegation visited the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Gatineau and the Notre Dame Basilica in Montreal, and met with members of Montreal’s Hungarian community.

On December 9 and 10, 2014, Mr. Jacques Chagnon, M.N.A., President of the National Assembly of Quebec, visited Ottawa at the invitation of the Honourable Pierre Claude Nolin, Speaker of the Senate, and the Honourable Andrew Scheer, Speaker of the House of Commons. He was accompanied by Lise Moreau, his Chief of Staff, and Karine Gaudreault, Interparliamentary and International Relations Advisor.

On 10 April 2014, three members of the delegation, including Mr. Tilson, Mr. Casey and Senator Rivard, also participated in meetings with representatives of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris, France, and with Her Excellency Judith LaRocque, Canada’s Ambassador to the OECD.
