SUMMARY

This enactment amends the Old Age Security Act to provide that a pensioner’s guaranteed income supplement shall not be reduced as a result of an increase in the pensioner’s income under the Canada Pension Plan if that increase results solely from the indexation of that pension.

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:

1The Old Age Security Act is amended by adding the following after section 12.‍1:

12.‍2Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act, the amount of a supplement that is payable to a pensioner under this Part shall not be reduced as a result of an increase in the pensioner’s income under the Canada Pension Plan if that increase results solely from the indexation of that pension.
