SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Food and Drugs Act to require that the sugar content of prepackaged products appear on the label.

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
1. Section 5 of the Food and Drugs Act is amended by adding the following after subsection (2):
Sugar content
(3) A prepackaged product, as defined in the regulations, that does not have a label on the front of it that contains the prescribed information with respect to its sugar content — and that is of the prescribed dimensions and displays the prescribed spacing and use of upper and lower case letters and bold type — shall be deemed to be labelled contrary to subsection (1).
2. Subsection 30(1) of the Act is amended by adding the following after paragraph (b):
(b.1) respecting the labelling of a prepackaged product with respect to its sugar content, including the dimensions of the label, the spacing and the use of upper — and lower — case letters and bold type;
