SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Employment Insurance Act to remove the waiting period with respect to benefits paid to apprentices.

An Act to amend the Employment Insurance Act (removal of waiting period for apprentices)
1996, c. 23
Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
1. Section 13 of the Employment Insurance Act is renumbered as subsection 13(1) and is amended by adding the following:
Exception
(2) The waiting period referred to in subsection (1) does not apply in respect of a claimant who is enrolled in an apprenticeship program.
2. Section 152.15 of the Act is renumbered as subsection 152.15(1) and is amended by adding the following:
Exception
(2) The waiting period referred to in subsection (1) does not apply in respect of a self-employed person who is enrolled in an apprenticeship program.
