SUMMARY
This enactment requires the Minister of Health to make regulations to require that all food be affixed with a label showing the country of origin of the food within nine months after the day on which this enactment comes into force.

An Act respecting Country of Origin Labelling
Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
SHORT TITLE
Short title
1. This Act may be cited as the Country of Origin Labelling Act.
INTERPRETATION
Definitions
2. The following definitions apply in this Act.
“food”
« aliment »
“food” includes any article manufactured, sold or represented for use as food or drink for human beings, chewing gum, and any ingredient that may be mixed with food for any purpose whatever.
“Minister”
« ministre »
“Minister” means the Minister of Health.
REGULATIONS
Regulations
3. Despite anything in the Food and Drugs Act or the regulations made under that Act, the Minister shall, within nine months after the day on which this Act comes into force, make regulations providing that no person shall import or package any food for sale unless a
label is affixed to the food clearly showing the country of origin of the food, including the country of origin of the primary ingredients and the country in which the food was manufactured or produced.
