SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 to remove the requirement for an individual to show that an alleged offence under the Act has caused significant harm to the environment in order to proceed with an environmental protection action. It also provides for fine splitting and an order for the recovery of costs in private prosecutions for offences under the Act.

SOMMAIRE
Le texte modifie la Loi canadienne sur la protection de l’environnement (1999) afin de supprimer l’obligation incombant au particulier de démontrer, en vue d’intenter une action en protection de l’environnement, que la prétendue infraction à la Loi a causé une atteinte importante à l’environnement. Il prévoit également la distribution du produit des amendes perçues et la possibilité de rendre une ordonnance des frais exposés dans le cadre de poursuites privées liées aux infractions à la présente loi.
