Summary
This enactment combines portions of the English and French versions of the national anthem to create a version that reflects the linguistic duality of Canada.

An Act to amend the National Anthem Act to reflect the linguistic duality of Canada
R.S., c. N-2
Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
1. Section 2 of the National Anthem Act is replaced by the following:
National anthem
2. The words and music of the song “O Canada”, as set out in Schedule 1 and as set out in Schedule 2, are designated as the national anthem of Canada.
2. The schedule to the Act is renumbered as Schedule 1.
3. The Act is amended by adding, after Schedule 1, the schedule set out in the schedule to this Act.




Explanatory Notes
National Anthem Act
Clause 1: Section 2 reads as follows:
2. The words and music of the song “O Canada”, as set out in the schedule, are designated as the national anthem of Canada.
