An Act to amend the National Defence Act (Her Majesty's Canadian Ship)

      Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:

1. The National Defence Act is amended by adding the following after section 36:

Her Majesty's Canadian Ship

36.1 Notwithstanding any Act or law, the Minister

    (a) shall cause to be removed, within three months after this section comes into force, the words ``Her Majesty's Canadian Ship'' or the initials ``H.M.C.S.'' from the hull or any other exterior part of any vessel of the Canadian Forces that is commissioned as a vessel of war; and

    (b) shall ensure that the words or initials are not replaced on the hull or any other exterior part of such a vessel.
