SUMMARY

This enactment implements the Agreement on Internal Trade.

The general provisions of the enactment specify that no private recourse may be taken on the basis of the provisions of the enactment or any order made thereunder, or the provisions of the Agreement itself, except as specified, without the consent of the Attorney General of Canada.

The enactment approves the Agreement and provides for the appointment of a federal representative to the Committee on Internal Trade, payment of the federal government's share of expenditures associated with operating the Secretariat and the power of the Governor in Council to suspend, in special cases, the benefits granted under the Agreement.

The enactment amends existing laws in order to bring them into conformity with the federal government's obligations under the Agreement.
