Participation of the Honourable Raymonde Gagné, C.M., O.M., Speaker of the Senate, to the 50th Annual Session of the Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie (APF), Paris, France
From July 10 to 12, 2025, the Honourable Raymonde Gagné, C.M., O.M., Speaker of the Senate, participated in the 50th annual session of the Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie in Paris, France.
The annual session, which was organized by the French Parliament, brought together more than 350 parliamentarians. During the event, the Speaker had the opportunity to speak with other parliamentarians about political, economic, cultural and social issues related to la Francophonie. She also discussed the status of the French language and how to preserve it and participated in bilateral meetings with her counterparts.
This year’s theme was “La Francophonie as a Political Entity: An Anchor in Times of Crisis.” Member states also addressed issues related to democracy, gender equality, youth, interparliamentary cooperation, education and climate change.
