Visit to Canada of His Excellency, Ander Gil García, Speaker of the Senate of the Kingdom of Spain

On February 16 and 17, 2023, His Excellency Ander Gil García, Speaker of the Senate of the Kingdom of Spain, conducted a working visit to Canada. The Speaker was accompanied by Mr. Manuel Cavero Gómez, Secretary General of the Senate; Ms. Amaya Arnáiz Serrano, Director of the Office of the President of the Senate; Ms. Sylvia Martí Sanchez, Director of International Relations; and Mr. Ángel Faus Alcaraz, Director of Communication and Media.

In Ottawa, the delegation met with the following officials:

• The Honourable George J. Furey, K.C., Speaker of the Senate;
• The Honourable Anthony Rota, M.P., Speaker of the House of Commons;
• The Honourable Pierrette Ringuette, Senator, Speaker Pro Tempore;
• The Honorable Leo Housakos, Senator and former Speaker of the Senate; and
• The Honourable Patti Laboucane-Benson, Senator, Government Liaison in the Senate.

The working visit provided an opportunity to discuss issues of mutual interest and strengthen bilateral relations between the Parliament of Canada and the Senate of the Kingdom of Spain
