The Speaker of the House of Commons participated, along with the Canadian delegates and the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, in a wreath-laying ceremony outside Charles University commemorating the 50th anniversary of the death of Jan Palach in January 1969.

The event provided the Canadian Speakers the opportunity to engage in dialogue on important issues facing each of their legislatures including decorum and parliamentary security. Speaker Fergus also gave a presentation on Recent Questions of Privilege in the House of Commons.
