At the invitation of Dr. Jaime José Matos da Gama, President of the Assembly of the Republic of Portugal, the Honourable Peter Milliken, M.P. and Speaker of the House of Commons, led a parliamentary delegation on an official visit to Portugal, from November 5 to 9, 2005.

On September 3 and 4, 2015, the Right Honourable the Baroness D’Souza CMG, Lord Speaker of the House of Lords of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, visited Ottawa at the invitation of the Honourable Leo Housakos, Speaker of the Senate.
