At the invitation of Dr. Jaime José Matos da Gama, President of the Assembly of the Republic of Portugal, the Honourable Peter Milliken, M.P. and Speaker of the House of Commons, led a parliamentary delegation on an official visit to Portugal, from November 5 to 9, 2005.

While in Ottawa, they held discussions with officials from the House of Commons and the Parliamentary Protective Service regarding security of Parliament and parliamentarians. Moreover, the delegation met with representatives of the Information Integrity Lab of the University of Ottawa.
