Monday, October 18, 2010 OTTAWA - The Canada-China Legislative Association (CCLA) will host a symposium on the relations between Canada and China on October 19, 2010. Designed to recognize and celebrate 2010 as the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Canada, the theme of the symposium is China on the Hill. The media is invited to be present at dinner at the Fairmont Château Laurier, during which The Honourable Zheng Silin, Chairman of the China – Canada Legislative Association and Vice-Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National People’s Congress will give the keynote address. Initiated in 1998, the Canadian Group of the CCLA provides a forum for the discussion of bilateral and multilateral challenges facing the two countries. It promotes the exchange of information between Canadian parliamentarians and representatives of the National Peoples’ Congress of the Peoples’ Republic of China in order to encourage better understanding and closer ties between the two countries.
