On 9 June 2026, members of the Executive Committee of the Canada–United Kingdom Inter-Parliamentary Association hosted a working lunch with members of the United Kingdom House of Commons Energy Security and Net Zero Select Committee. Led by the Right Honourable Bill Esterson, M.P., the U.K. delegation visited Canada to inform its ongoing studies on nuclear energy, the future of U.K. oil and gas, and international climate change policy. Discussions focused on pursuing energy security while meeting climate commitments, on-shore and off-shore wind projects, nuclear power, energy affordability, and climate policy communication.

On 10 February 2026, members of the Executive Committee of the Canada–United Kingdom Inter-Parliamentary Association (RUUK) met with a delegation of parliamentarians led by Sharon Hodgson, MP, from the U.K. branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association. Discussion topics included evolving trade and defence relations between Canada and the United States, as well as Canada–U.K. trade and ongoing trade negotiations. RUUK members also raised issues related to U.K. restrictions on Canadian beef imports and U.K. pensioners receiving “frozen” (fixed) state pensions while residing in Canada.

Mr. Tinline and Executive Committee members discussed key bilateral issues including trade, Canada–U.K. trade negotiations, defence procurement, immigration policy, and “frozen” state pensions for U.K. citizens living in Canada.
