CANADA–U.S. IPG ATTENDS 2016 FALL MEETING
OF THE CAN/AM BORDER TRADE ALLIANCE

From 2–4 October 2016, Mr. Brian Masse, M.P., Vice-Chair of the Canadian Section of the Canada–United States Inter-Parliamentary Group (IPG), represented the Canadian Section at the 2016 fall meeting of the Canadian/American Border Trade Alliance (Can/Am BTA) in Washington, D.C.

“I was honoured to be able to represent the Canada–U.S. Inter-Parliamentary Group at the Can/Am BTA’s fall meeting,” said Mr. Masse. “As someone who represents Canadians who live along the border shared by Canada and the United States, I can attest to the importance of this group’s work in helping to ensure that the movement of people and goods across the border is both secure and smooth.”

Mr. Masse concluded: “In particular, I was happy to be able to speak to the meeting’s participants about the recent past and future activities of the Canadian Section as we meet with our federal counterparts, U.S. governors and American state legislators, and continue to advocate collaborative efforts to meet our joint economic, security and other goals.”

The Can/Am BTA holds two meetings each year: in the spring in Ottawa and in the fall in Washington, D.C. The BTA is a coalition of businesses, public-sector organizations and individuals with an interest in bilateral trade and tourism. Its mission is to maximize commercial activity and ensure continued growth in cross-border trade, as well as efficient and productive border-crossing capabilities.
