MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 6

Thursday, June 5, 2003

The Standing Joint Committee on the Library of Parliament met in camera at 9:55 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Joint Chairs, Carolyn Bennett and the Hon. Yves Morin, presiding.

Members of the Committee present representing the Senate: the Hon. Roch Bolduc, Yves Morin and Vivienne Poy.

Members of the Committee present representing the House of Commons: Carolyn Bennett, Robert Bertrand, Marlene Catterall, Marcel Gagnon, Deborah Grey, Jerry Pickard and Jacques Saada.

Acting Members from the House of Commons present: Bob Speller for Andrew Telegdi.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament:  Lalita Acharya, Analyst.

Pursuant to the First Report of the Committee adopted by the Senate on April 3, 2003, and pursuant to Standing Order 108 (4)(a), the Committee commenced consideration of two draft letters to the Speakers of the House of Commons and the Senate and to Parliamentary Librarian and study of a draft report.

It was agreed, ─ That the draft report be adopted as the second report of the Committee and that the letter from the two co-chairs to the Speakers of the Senate and the House of Commons and a document on the e-consultation be appended to this report when it is tabled in each Chamber.

It was agreed, ─ That the Joint Chairs, Joint Clerks and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

It was agreed, ─ That the Joint Chairs be authorized to present the report to their respective Chamber.

At 10:00 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
