The Standing Joint Committee on Official Languages met in a televised session at 3:34 p.m., this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Co-Chairs, The Hon. Shirley Maheu and Mauril Bélanger, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present:

 

From the Senate: The Honourables Gérald A. Beaudoin, Jean-Robert Gauthier, Viola Léger, Shirley Maheu.

 

From the House of Commons: Mauril Bélanger, Gérard Binet, Sarmite Bulte, Yvon Godin, Scott Reid, Benoît Sauvageau.

Acting Members present: Roy Cullen for John Godfrey, Dominic LeBlanc for Bernard Patry.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Françoise Coulombe and Marion Ménard, Analysts.

Witnesses: From Air Canada: Michèle Perreault-Ieraci, Ombudsman and Senior Director, Employment Equity and Linguistic Affairs; Stephen Markey, Vice-President, Government Relations and Regulatory Affairs; Barbara Boudreau, General Manager, Customer and Employee Advocacy, Air Canada Jazz.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(4)b), the Committee resumed a study on services offered in both official languages by Air Canada.

Michèle Perreault-Ieraci made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 5:16 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
