The Standing Joint Committee on Official Languages met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Co-Chairs, the Honourable Shirley Maheu and Mauril Bélanger, presiding.

From the House of Commons: Mauril Bélanger, Eugène Bellemare, Gérard Binet, Sarmite Bulte, Claude Drouin, John Godfrey, Yvon Godin, Rahim Jaffer, Benoît Sauvageau, Yolande Thibeault.

In attendance: From the Senate: Tonu Onu, Co-Clerk of the Committee. From the House of Commons: Jean-François Pagé, Acting Co-Clerk of the Committee and Jean-Michel Roy, Committee Clerk. From the Library of Parliament: Françoise Coulombe and Robert Asselin, Research Officers.

In accordance with Standing Order 108 (1a) (2), a study on the broadcasting of the House of Commons' debates in both official languages by CPAC.

The Speaker made an opening statement and with William Corbett, answered questions.

At 5:04 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
