The Standing Joint Committee on Official Languages met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Mauril Bélanger presiding.

Member(s) of the Committee present:

From the Senate: The Hon. Jean-Robert Gauthier and the Hon. Rose-Marie Losier-Cool.

From the House of Commons: Mauril Bélanger, Gérard Binet, Sarmite Bulte, Claude Drouin, Yvon Godin, Raymond Lavigne, Scott Reid and Benoît Sauvageau.

In attendance:

From the Senate: Tonu Onu, Co-Clerk of the Committee. From the House of Commons: Jean-François Pagé, Co-Clerk of the Committee. From the Library of Parliament: Robert Asselin, researcher, Library of Parliament.

Witness(es): From the Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages: Gérard Finn, Director General, Policy and Communications Branch. From the Office of the Commissonner of Official Languages: Dyane Adam, Commissioner of Official Languages. Pursuant to Standing Order 81(7), consideration of the 2001-2002 Estimates, Part III - Report on Plans and Priorities, Privy Council, Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages.

Mrs Dyane Adam made an opening statement and with Michel Robichaud and Gérard Finn, answered questions.

At 5:04 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
