The Standing Joint Committee on Official Languages met at 3:50 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Co-Chair, The Hon. Sheila Finestone, presiding.

Representing the Senate: The Hon. Gérald A. Beaudoin, The Hon. Rose-Marie Losier-Cool, , The Hon. Louis J. Robichaud.

Representing the House of Commons: Claudette Bradshaw, The Hon. Sheila Finestone, Ted McWhinney

Associate Member(s) present: Cliff Breitkreuz for Inky Mark; Daniel Turp for Louis Plamondon.

In attendance: Tonu Onu, Joint Clerk of the Committee (Senate). From the Library of Parliament: Françoise Coulombe.

Witnesses: From the "Association des juristes d'expression française de l'Ontario": Tory Colvin, President; Nathalie Boutet, Vice-President; Gérard Lévesque, Executive Director.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(4)(b), consideration of official languages policies and programs.

Tory Colvin and Nathalie Boutet each made an opening statement and, with Gérard Lévesque answered questions.

At 5:05 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
