SUMMARY
This enactment designates the month of May in each and every year as “Philippine Heritage Month”.

An Act to designate the month of May as Philippine Heritage Month
Whereas Canada and the Philippines have long-standing and positive bilateral relations based on shared democratic values;
Whereas many Canadians have strong familial and interpersonal ties with the people of the Philippines;
Whereas the Philippines is Canada’s sixth-largest trading partner in Southeast Asia;
And whereas His Excellency Benigno Aquino III, President of the Philippines, paid a State visit to Canada in May 2015 to meet with the Prime Minister to discuss expanding trade and investment between the two countries, as well as cooperation on a range of issues, including development and countering threats to regional and global security;
Now, therefore, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
SHORT TITLE
Short title
1. This Act may be cited as the Philippine Heritage Month Act.
PHILIPPINE HERITAGE MONTH
Philippine Heritage Month
2. Throughout Canada, in each and every year, the month of May is to be known as “Philippine Heritage Month”.
