A Canadian delegation participated in an event at the United Nations (UN) organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the UN Division for the Advancement of Women (UNDAW). Mr. Spengemann participated in the panel on the role of men in advancing gender equality. He emphasized recent developments in Canada, including the enactment of the Gender Equality Week Act in 2018, legislation which he had introduced in the House of Commons during the 42nd Parliament.

Members of the Canadian Group of the Inter-Parliamentary Union UIPU) participated, two of whom, Rachel Blaney, MP and Sven Spengemann, MP were featured presenters together with Dr. Pechdau Tohmeena from Thailand’s House of Representatives and David Clarke from the World Health Organization. Senator Mohamed-Iqbal Ravalia also attended.

The delegation of the Canadian Branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association which attended the 54th Annual Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from August 1 to 10, 2008, and which participated in a bilateral visit to Singapore from August 10 to 14, 2008 has the honour to present its report.
