From 16-19 May 2008, members of the Canadian and American sections of the Canada-United States Inter-Parliamentary Group (IPG) met in Santa Fe, New Mexico for the IPG’s 49 th annual meeting. The US was represented by four Senators and eight members of the House of Representatives, while the Canadian delegation included four Senators and thirteen members of the House of Commons (see Appendix).

The Nova Scotia branch gave an update on preparations for the 36th Session of the Americas Regional Assembly, scheduled to take place in Halifax in August 2021.

· Nova Scotia is reducing its reliance on coal-powered energy and is increasing its reliance on wind and natural gas projects. · Connecticut is interested in procuring the lowest possible cost for its energy users, and is seeking regional partners to help reduce energy prices in New England.
