For the second consecutive year, Canada is on the Priority Watch List, which is the middle of three levels.

These included the release of the IPU’s 2020 Women in Parliament report and related infographic. Senator Ataullahjan highlighted progress towards gender equality in both chambers of the Parliament of Canada, underscoring that the Senate had achieved gender parity.

The Chair, Ms. Aaja Chemnitz Larsen, Member of Parliament, Parliament of Denmark; the Vice-Chair, Mrs. Lisa Murkowski, Senator for Alaska, United States’ Senate; and the Secretary General, Mr. Peder Pedersen, from the Danish Parliament, were all extended in their current positions until the next CPAR.

He presented an overview of a parliamentary committee system, including examples of best practice from the Senate of Canada. The newly elected members of the Bermuda House of Assembly participated in the post-election seminar, which is the oldest program run by the CPA.
