Parliamentary Associations Associations promote the country’s interests abroad on a continuing basis and are composed of both members of the Senate and of the House of Commons. There are 8 Multilateral Associations and 5 Bilateral Associations.

From September 26 to 28, His Excellency Wolfgang Sobotka, President of the National Council of the Republic of Austria, led a delegation to Ottawa and Toronto at the invitation of the Honourable George J. Furey, K.C., Speaker of the Senate, and the Honourable Anthony Rota, M.P., Speaker of the House of Commons.

In the wake of the G-20 meetings held in Canada during 2010, the Honourable Noël A. Kinsella, Speaker of the Senate of Canada, hosted a Speakers' Consultation among the presiding officers of the upper and unicameral houses of the G-20 from September 2 to 5, 2010 in Ottawa. This initiative was the first of its kind.

From January 11 to 18, 2009, the Honourable Noël A. Kinsella, Speaker of the Senate, led a parliamentary delegation to Mexico. The delegation was composed of the Honourable Senator Gerald J.
