Parliamentary Associations Associations promote the country’s interests abroad on a continuing basis and are composed of both members of the Senate and of the House of Commons. There are 8 Multilateral Associations and 5 Bilateral Associations.

From 16-19 May 2008, members of the Canadian and American sections of the Canada-United States Inter-Parliamentary Group (IPG) met in Santa Fe, New Mexico for the IPG’s 49 th annual meeting. The US was represented by four Senators and eight members of the House of Representatives, while the Canadian delegation included four Senators and thirteen members of the House of Commons (see Appendix).

From August 26 to September 1, 2011, the Speaker of the Senate, the Honourable Noël A. Kinsella, led a parliamentary delegation on an official visit to Ireland and Scotland. The delegation was composed of Mrs. Ann Kinsella, the Honourable Senators Lowell Murray, P.C., George Furey and Michael MacDonald. The delegation comprised the Honourable Senators Dennis Dawson, Percy Mockler, Lucie Moncion and Kim Pate, as well as the following members of the House of Commons: Mr. Mark Warawa, Ms. Carol Hughes, Ms. Julie Dzerowicz, and Mr. Terry Sheehan.

From January 17 to 24, 2007, the Speaker of the Senate led a parliamentary delegation composed of the Honourable Raynell Andreychuk, Senator and the Honourable William Rompkey, Senator. This delegation visited Panama from January 17 to 20 and Costa Rica from January 20 to 24.

On June 14, 2022, Her Excellency Elżbieta Witek, Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, and a Parliamentary Delegation, visited Canada.
