The Honourable Peter Milliken, Speaker of the House of Commons; Mr. Rob Nicholson, Leader of the Government in the House of Commons and Minister for Democratic Reform;

He emphasized recent developments in Canada, including the enactment of the Gender Equality Week Act in 2018, legislation which he had introduced in the House of Commons during the 42nd Parliament.

The delegates also met with the Honourable Anthony Rota, the Speaker of the House of Commons, and Greg Peters, the Usher of the Black Rod. In addition, they attended Question Period and conducted a site visit to the Centre Block of Parliament, currently undergoing renovations as part of the Long-Term Vision and Plan for the Parliamentary Precinct.

On January 9 and 10, 2017, the Speaker of the House of Commons, the Honourable Geoff Regan, P.C., M.P., conducted an official visit to Norway. Accompanying the Speaker were Mr. Brian Underhill, Chief of Staff, Office of the Speaker, and Ms. Marlene Sandoval, Secretary to the delegation.

From March 9 to 11, 2015, His Excellency Valeriu Ştefan Zgonea, President of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania, led a parliamentary delegation to Ottawa at the invitation of the Honourable Andrew Scheer, M.P., Speaker of the House of Commons.

Participants heard presentations by: the Honourable Juan Watterson, Speaker of the Isle of Man’s House of Keys; Luiz Fernando Bandeira de Mello, Secretary-General of the Board of Brazil’s Senate; and Matthew Hamlyn, Strategic Director of the Chamber Business Team of the United Kingdom’s House of Commons.

On December 9 and 10, 2014, Mr. Jacques Chagnon, M.N.A., President of the National Assembly of Quebec, visited Ottawa at the invitation of the Honourable Pierre Claude Nolin, Speaker of the Senate, and the Honourable Andrew Scheer, Speaker of the House of Commons. He was accompanied by Lise Moreau, his Chief of Staff, and Karine Gaudreault, Interparliamentary and International Relations Advisor.
