From 15-17 November 2007, members of the Canada-United States Inter-Parliamentary Group attended the Economic Leadership Forum of the Pacific NorthWest Economic Region in Whistler, British Columbia. From 10–13 December 2015, two Vice-Chairs from the Canadian Section of the Canada–United States Inter-Parliamentary Group – Senator Michael L. MacDonald and Senator Wilfred Moore, Q.C. – led a delegation to the annual national conference of the Council of State Governments (CSG) in Nashville, Tennessee. The other members of the delegation were Senator Jane Cordy and Senator Dan Lang.

The Statutes and Rules of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) permits members to form geopolitical groups. These groups play an important role in the functioning and activities of the IPU. Canada belongs to the Twelve Plus Group and Canadian parliamentarians occasionally participate in meetings of its Steering Committee of representatives from approximately seven to nine member-countries.

From February 24-26, 2019, the Speaker of the Senate, the Honourable George J. Furey, Q.C., and the Speaker of the House of Commons, the Honourable Geoff Regan, P.C., M.P., hosted the XXII Canada—Mexico Interparliamentary Meeting in Ottawa, Canada.
