The visit also presented an occasion for the signature of a joint declaration by Mr. Corneliu Chisu, M.P., Chair of the Canada-Romania Parliamentary Friendship Group and Mr. Petru Alexandru Fratean, Senator, Chair of the Romania-Canada Friendship Group of the Romanian Parliament.

The visit to Algeria —the first high-level visit from a Speaker of the Canadian Parliament in a number of years— served to strengthen relations and explore opportunities for further cooperation between our countries and institutions.

The Committee therefore agreed to recommend to the General Assembly in Nairobi, Kenya, that the application to form a Branch of the Association from the Rwanda Parliament be accepted.
