The workshop was attended by the following parliamentarians from the Canadian Branch of the CPA: The Honourable Robert Black, Senator, Mr. Randy Hoback, MP, and Mr. Daniel Blaikie, MP.

They discussed the outcome of the May 2022 EU-Canada Joint Ministerial Committee meeting; the coverage of space-related procurement by the Canadian Space Agency under the Canada-European Union Comprehensive and Economic Trade Agreement; Canada and the EU’s response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine; and the upcoming Canada-EU interparliamentary meeting this fall.

The CBC met by videoconference on 13 March 2023. Two members of the Canadian Branch of the APF participated in the meeting: Mr. Francis Drouin, MP, participated in his role as APF President, and Mr. Darrell Samson, MP, participated in his role as Vice-Chair of the Canadian Branch.

During this workshop, Mr. Terry Duguid, MP, gave a presentation that focussed on Canada’s domestic response to climate change and the challenges of climate action in the Canadian federal system. Mr. Duguid also answered questions relating to the role of parliamentarians in elaborating and implementing climate change legislation.

On 28 and 29 April 2021, a delegation from the Canadian Group of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (UIPU) comprising Ms. Iqra Khalid, MP, Ms. Lindsay Mathyssen, MP, and Ms. Michelle Rempel Garner, MP attended the Seventh Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians.

They also provided insights into the competing interests at play in the regulation of social media companies to protect user privacy. This meeting was attended by the Honourable Salma Ataullahjan, Senator, the Honourable Kim Pate, Senator, the Honourable Vernon White, Senator and Mr. Sameer Zuberi, MP.

Senator Mohamed-Iqbal Ravalia also attended.
