Members of the Canadian Group of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (UIPU) who registered for the event include: Senator Salma Ataullahjan, Senator Pate, Mr. Spengemann, and Ms. Andréanne Larouche, MP.

They also provided insights into the competing interests at play in the regulation of social media companies to protect user privacy. This meeting was attended by the Honourable Salma Ataullahjan, Senator, the Honourable Kim Pate, Senator, the Honourable Vernon White, Senator and Mr. Sameer Zuberi, MP.

At the invitation of Her Excellency Raziah Ahmed, Senator, President of the Senate, and His Excellency Wade Mark, M.P., Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago, the Honourable Leo Housakos, Speaker pro tempore of the Senate, led a parliamentary delegation on an official visit to Trinidad and Tobago on March 15-17, 2015.

The Honorable Pierre-Hugues Boisvenu and Jane Cordy, Senators, and MP Cheryl Gallant participated in this webinar. Senator Cordy was a moderator for the first panel, on the topic “10 years After the Arab uprisings.” The first session provided an update on the uprisings and identified lessons NATO countries could learn from the situation.

Senator Galvez highlighted that the pandemic has affected people differently, depending on such factors as age, gender and sector of employment. Some foreign participants expressed their gratitude for Canadian parliamentarians’ efforts to support their countries during the pandemic.
