Visit to Ottawa of the Honourable David Laxton, M.L.A., Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Yukon

On January 27, 2016, the Honourable George J. Furey, Q.C., Speaker of the Senate, and the Honourable Geoff Regan, P.C., M.P., Speaker of the House of Commons received, in Ottawa, the Honourable David Laxton, M.L.A., Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Yukon.

Speaker Laxton met with the following people during his visit to Ottawa:

• The Honourable George J. Furey, Q.C., Speaker of the Senate; and
• The Honourable Geoff Regan, P.C., M.P., Speaker of the House of Commons.

Speaker Laxton also had an opportunity to discuss with several parliamentarians during the official luncheon hosted by both speakers Furey and Regan. The visit was an opportunity to further relations between the Yukon Legislative Assembly and the Parliament of Canada. Discussions focused on a number of subjects, such as veteran affairs and matters relating to parliamentary procedure, governance, and administration.
