Guest speaker Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, founder and president of Human Capital Africa, discussed the link between the economy and education. Ms. Ezekwesili noted that research has identified ways to address education challenges which include prioritizing foundational learning in areas such as literacy and taking an evidence-based approach to investments and policy decisions.

The members of the delegation from the Canadian Section of FIPA had a particular interest in the main theme of the Assembly, Youth and Democratic Values, and felt that this Mission could increase their level of understanding of issues of hemispheric interest. They also felt that it could improve their capacity to bring the recommendations back to Canada for further discussion and consideration.

The Honourable Éric Forest, Senator, participated in the meeting of the Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie’s (APF) Cooperation and Development Committee by videoconference on 6 October 2021. Senator Forest proposed that a new project be developed on the impact of climate change on island, coastal and waterfront territories in francophone areas. The Committee approved this proposal.
