The committee is made up of a number of senators and MPs reflecting the proportionate share of the operating budget of the Branch as contributed by the Senate and the House of Commons, respectively. Committee members are elected at the CPA’s General Assembly.

Members also heard about other study topics, such as using geolocation in a pandemic context and barriers to legislative initiatives by parliamentarians. In addition, the committee chair reported on cooperation activities with some APF member countries.

On Election Day on May 7th, the teams attended numerous polling stations to observe electoral procedure and note strengths and weaknesses to discuss later. ParlAmericas’ International Secretariat outlined planned and possible activities for the PNCC during the remainder of 2021–22, and, following a discussion about these activities, Executive Committee members provided updates on their legislature’s recent activities relating to the environment and climate change.

Members also debated future report topics for the Network. Ms. Lalonde suggested that the Canadian Branch help the New Caledonia Branch prepare a report proposal on discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex people (LGBTI).
