From 5-8 May 2006, the Canada-United States Inter-Parliamentary Group held its 47th Annual Meeting in Charleston, South Carolina. Attending the meeting were seven Canadian Senators and fifteen members of the House of Commons, as well as four American Senators and eleven members of the House of Representatives. Moreover, the meetings with state legislators provide the members of the Canadian Section of the IPG with an important means to provide input to, and gather information about, state-level issues that affect Canada. The Speaker of the Senate, the Honourable Dan Hays, and the Speaker of the House of Commons, the Honourable Peter Milliken, led a joint parliamentary delegation which attended the XIIIth Mexico-Canada Inter-Parliamentary Meeting, held in Mexico City from January 24-27, 2005.

The Annual Session is the most important event in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly calendar where the Assembly debates a number of OSCE matters and resolutions, receives reports, adopts the Session’s declaration, and elects its officers.

ParlAmericas held its 30th Meeting of the Board of Directors in the city of Medellin, Colombia. Participants expressed gratitude to the host, Mr. German Blanco, Member of the Chamber of Deputies, for the hospitality shown to them in Medellin.
