Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee The Canadian Branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association would like to warmly congratulate Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II on her Diamond Jubilee. Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee gives us an opportunity to honour Her Majesty’s extraordinary dedication and service to Canada and the entire Commonwealth, and to celebrate our long history of friendship and fidelity. It is also an opportunity for Canadians to reflect on Canada’s many achievements during Her Majesty’s remarkable 60 year reign. As Head of State of Canada, Her Majesty represents a vital link to the parliamentary traditions and customs of the Commonwealth that Canadians value deeply such as democracy, equality, and peace. These beliefs and principles have stood the test of time, and represent our legacy to future generations. The monarchy further serves as an enduring symbol that unites Canada’s large geographic land mass and diverse populations. This momentous event will allow Canadians to look to the future of our nation with hope and confidence. In addition to uniting Canadians, as Head of the Commonwealth, Her Majesty unites 54 countries and two billion people with diverse cultures around shared values.
