An Act to amend the Canada Labour Code (automated external defibrillators)

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:

Canada Labour Code

1Subsection 125(1) of the Canada Labour Code is amended by adding the following after paragraph (h):

  • Start of inserted block

    (h.‍1)ensure that accessible automated external defibrillators are kept in the work place;

    End of inserted block

2Paragraph 157(1)‍(b) of the Act is replaced by the following:

  • (b) Insertion start for the purposes of paragraph 125(1)‍(h.‍1), prescribing, based on the number of employees and persons that are granted access to the work place by the employer and the size of the work place, the number of automated external defibrillators that must be kept in the work place, and excluding any work place from the application of that paragraph; and Insertion end

  • Insertion start (c) Insertion end respecting such other matters or things as are necessary to carry out the provisions of this Part.
